Prevent bed bugs infestation with these simple steps

Bed bugs prove to be nuisance especially if you are residing in a temperate climatic zone. These pests are also found in other parts of the world and can be very disappointing and most importantly can try your patience oftentimes. Bed bugs thrive in dark and warm places and these include the sockets in the light fixtures, beds, mattresses, baseboards, drawers, pillow covers, linens, upholstery and the list is never ending. If you have already faced the wrath of bed bugs before, you will definitely not want your home to be infested again with these small nocturnal creatures. So, here are few steps that you can take to prevent bed bugs from infesting your home again. Check them out.

    • If you find even a single egg or shed skin of bed bugs, this is the best time to prevent it from spreading further. Many people are of the opinion that if there are sights of infestation in your mattress, it is best to do away with the same. It may sound hilarious; nevertheless, you can replace it with a new one. You can be sure that the new mattress is devoid of any bed bugs. 
    • Since bed bugs are present at the base of your beds in the cracks, you can wrap around plastic tapes so that the infestation does not take place in these crevices. If possible try to place a double wrap around it.
    • There is another way you can prevent bed bugs from infecting your bed and mattress. And that is covering the mattress and the bed with plastic or opting for a bed cover that is zipped locked from all sides.
    • If you have been on a trip for a few days and you had doubts that the hotel room bed had bed bugs or you had welts in the morning, once you are back, instead of bringing your clothes close to your wardrobe or closet, put them directly into the washing machine. In this way if there were infestation in other places, the same will not be transmitted to your house. It is one of the effective ways to prevent bed bugs infestation in your home. Also when you wash the linens and clothes in the washing machine, make sure you do the drying at high temperatures. It is usually seen that bed bugs do not survive at temperatures above 120 degree F.
